This is the
only large Chameleon that can be found along the coast.
It has no horns but has large flaps behind the ears,
hence the name. Common throughout the area, they can
often be seen crossing the Watamu beach road especially
during the rainy season. Can also be found using a
spotlight at night, up in the trees, for their excellent
camouflage does not work in artificial light. Chameleons
are famous for being able to change colour, move each
eye in a different direction and the very long tongue
they use to catch their food. |

This is a
very small Chameleon less than two
inches in total length. Unlike the other
large chameleons it lives on the ground
in leaf litter. It is the sweetest
creature to look at and differs from
young Flap-necked Chameleons in the fact
that it has a relatively short tail. |
