SUBFAMILY Colubrinae - True Snakes
Spotted Bush Snakes and co.
This is a big sub-family with over 50 genera and some 300 species in total. The larger number, are found in Africa and are all very typically shaped snakes. None of them possess fangs and although most are grab and swallow eaters many are food specialists such as Mole Snakes, Slug Eaters, Shovel-Snouts, Jacksons’ Tree Snakes and Hooked-Nosed Snakes. 10 genera are found in our part of East Africa.
