2006 International Snakebite Seminar

Bio-Ken Snake Farm held its fifth Snakebite Seminar at Hemingway’s Resort in Watamu, Kenya on Saturday 11th of November 2006.

The late James Ashe began Snake-bite Seminars in 1998, and they are held once every two years.

The purpose of this seminar was to introduce the new WHO Snakebite Treatment Guidelines and their relevance in Africa as well as detailed snakebite treatment procedures.

Our speakers were;
 - Dr M. Chisale, of WHO, Brazzaville
 - Dr.s Omar, Odthiambo & Erulu, of Kenya
 - Prof. D. Warrell, Emeritus Professor of Tropical Medicine, Centre for Tropical Medicine - University of Oxford, UK.

There was a good turnout to the Seminar of over 50 participants, ranging from Surgeons, Doctors and others involved in the medical field, through to Expedition leaders, Safari Guides, Snake-bite victims, students, and other members of the public with an interest in Snake-bite.

Thanks go to Professor David Warrell for his captivating and immensely interesting interactive lectures, as well as our other guest speakers. Thanks also go to Hemingway's Resort for kindly hosting the seminar and their continued support to Bio-Ken.

Our next Snake-bite Seminar will be held in late 2008. For more information, please contact Bio-Ken.
